The Close to My Heart August What a Hoot Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

This month I am following {Adeline Brill's Blog.}   We have 67 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this month’s Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.   If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

The August Stamp of the Month is entitled What a Hoot  (S1408) (Set of 18). Here is a picture of this stamp set:

In addition to showcasing this super-adorable stamp set, I got to use some of our products from our new catalog, Annual Inspirations that goes live on August 1st.

This card was truly a joy to put together.  Despite the kids being off from school (fighting in the background) and the extra people in my house (my son's family is visiting from Guam), I was actually humming and singing as I found my happy place in making this card.  So, let me show you my card.

I used our new Halloween paper called Scaredy Cat.  Loving the purple, which is one of our new colors called Thistle.

To make the circle and the scallop around the circle, I pulled out my handy, dandy Cricut Explore and my Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge and opened up Cricut Design Space on my computer.  I am going to show a short tutorial on my blog tomorrow so please come back and see.

I like to have a finished inside on my card.  I used our black pigment ink to stamp this cute sentiment and then colored it in with our new Marigold ShinHan alcohol markers.

I added some Purple Shimmer Tape at the bottom and then added one of the Zip Strips from the Scaredy cat paper pack matted with Black cardstock.

And the star of the card is my sweet little owl.  He is stamped and fussy cut with various patterned paper from the Scaredy Cat paper pack.  Don't you just love him?  It was like putting together paper dolls, cutting and moving around different combinations of patterned paper.  I love the creative process!

The pumpkin in his hat is colored with Marigold, Light Orange and Golden Yellow ShinHan markers.  I start off with my darker color and add shading wherever I want it.  Then I went in with the Light Orange over all of the pumpkin.  While it is still wet, I added the Golden Yellow over all of the pumpkin and then went back in with the Marigold to make the shading a little more pronounced.

With the ShinHan markers, remember that you can keep adding color until you like what you have.  Using more than one color will give you dimension.  They mix well while they are wet, and you can always go back in and add more color.  Don't be afraid to play with them.  They are so much fun!

I absolutely could not resist adding googly eyes to my sentiment!

My final touch was the addition of the new CTMH Silver sequins for his eyes.  They fit perfectly!

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love for you to leave me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Michelle Stewart's Blog.}

The What a Hoot Stamp Set can be purchased for $17.95 or if you purchase $50 in CTMH products, you can add this stamp set to your order for an additional $5.  This stamp set is only available between August 1 – August 31, 2014.

Stampers with an Attitude Bling it Up Blog Hop

Welcome to the July Stampers with an Attitude Bling it Up Blog Hop.  This month I am following  {Melissa Robinson.}  Our blog hop is a circular hop.  You just click on the link to the next blog on the bottom of this post and go visit the next blog.  If you get lost, I have listed all of the participating blogs at the bottom of my post.  Hope you enjoy seeing what our team has made for you.

This month our Stampers with an Attitude are Blinging up their artwork.  I LOVE Bling!!!  The more the better!  That is why I am known as the Bling Queen!

I just got back from the Close to My Heart Convention and I saw so much truly amazing artwork.  I have had a few Picture My Life kits sitting around and after seeing what other CTMH Consultants have done with these kits, I picked out a card whose sentiment I loved and set out to make an inspirational piece of art for my wall.

I really needed to spend the time creating and playing with the Skylark paper pack.  The base of my artwork is two pieces of chipboard adhered together.  Then I started ripping pieces of my patterned paper, inking the edges with chocolate ink, and adhering it to the chipboard with my Bonding Memories glue.

I used my favorite Dreamer (B1439) Stamp Set and then added the Picture My Life Skylark card matted with Chocolate cardstock and then with our new Teal Glitter Paper (orderable 8/1).

I added lots of flourishes, clear bling, a charm from our Base and Bling collection, and some flowers from the Skylark assortment.  And then I covered the entire piece of artwork with Glossy Mod Podge.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  The next very talented artist for you to visit on our blog hop is {Jen Patrick}.

Below is a list of supplies used.  They can be purchased on my website and sent directly to you!

Spotlight on Paper Fundamentals and a Contest Too!

I love our new Close to My Heart product line called Paper Fundamentals.  Paper Fundamentals is a huge pack of paper - 20 pieces - that have a glossy embossed pattern on one side and the same pattern on the other side without the glossy pattern.

Here is a card that I made with this paper pack.

The paper on the right side is from the Paper Fundamentals paper pack.  This is the side that is not glossy.  I am loving the pattern and it really adds to this card.  It pairs nicely with all different paper packs and patterned papers.
